For 28 years, Gary Woods proudly served our country in the U.S. Coast Guard, building a career grounded in leadership, accountability, and service. Today, he brings that same commitment to serving his community and working to make government more effective and responsible.

During his Coast Guard career, Gary provided oversight of a $68 million budget and served as Chief of Contracting, where he worked with businesses, government agencies, and legal organizations to manage resources, develop projects, and ensure responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

Gary also helped establish the Military Law Enforcement Academy at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Charleston, South Carolina, contributing to the development of training and leadership programs for those serving in law enforcement.

Throughout his career, Gary provided financial and management oversight for training and leadership development centers, worked with federal agencies, negotiated contracts, and ensured that funding, reporting, and financial obligations were completed accurately and responsibly. His experience has taught him the importance of bringing people together, finding practical solutions, and making every dollar count.

Now a proud Brunswick County resident, Gary is married and a grandfather of four. Outside of his professional and community commitments, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing golf, and firing up the barbecue.
